Italy meets the Vatican

Pope Francis met this morning with the Enrico Letta, Prime Minister of the Italian Republic. After the papal audience, Mr. Letta met with Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, the Vatican Secretary of State, who was accompanied by Archbishop Dominique Mamberti, Secretary of Relations with States.
During the meeting, several topics were discussed including the current social situations and initiatives that citizens and the institutions of Italy and the European Union are sustaining, in particular with regard to the adoption of measures that will create and protect jobs, especially for young people.

The active contribution that recognition of Italian families and Catholic institutions continue to contribute to the stability of the country was also discussed.

The Holy Father and Mr. Letta also discussed several issues dealing with international politics, emphasizing the rising concern, in particular, with countries in the Middle East. Concluding their meeting, both parties confirmed their commitment to mutual cooperation for the good of the Italian nation and the international community.
