No tickets required

The Prefecture of the Papal Household, the office which is responsible for the coordination of all the major celebrations that take place at the Vatican has announced today that for the Canonizations of Blessed John XXIII and Blessed John Paul II, scheduled to take place on April 27, 2014, participation will be open to all those who find room in Saint Peter's Square, or in Pius XII Square or along the Via della Conciliazione.  There will be no need for tickets in order to participate (normally, tickets are required to participate at the General Audience or at other major gatherings in Saint Peter's Square.

The Papal Household has issued a warning advising those who intend on being present for the Canonizations that they should be wary of those who insist on charging fees associated with tickets for this gathering.

In any case, tickets normally required to attend celebrations and audiences with the Holy Father are normally offered free of charge, so any attempt to charge a fee should already serve as a warning of malfeasance.
