Personnel for the Secretariat on the Economy

Last week, the Holy Father established the newest of the Vatican's coordination structures - the Secretariat for the Economy, and appointed Cardinal George Pell, Archbishop of Sydney (Austrailia) as it's Prefect of this newly-established body.

Yesterday, the Holy Father named the Secretary for this new coordination structure.  His Holiness named Monsignor Alfred Xuereb, an Official from the Secretariat of State who served as one of the private secretaries to Pope Benedict, as the Prelate Secretary General of the Secretariat for the Economy.

From this date onward, Monsignor Xuereb will work in close collaboration with Cardinal Pell, and with the other personnel who may be appointed to work within the offices of the Secretariat to oversee the Economic matters of the Vatican City State.

Read more about this appointment in the article published yesterday in the Catholic Herald.
