The Holy See Press Office announced this morning that His Holiness has appointed His Eminence, Jaime Ortega y Alamino, Archbishop of San Cristóbal de La Habana (Cuba) as his Special Representative at the celebrations which will formally conclude the 350th anniversary of the foundation of the parish of Notre-Dame-de-Quebec (Canada).
The Archdiocese of Quebec is the primatial See of Canada and was the first to be founded in North America. The Cathedral-Basilica of Notre-Dame-de-Quebec is the mother church of all the parishes in North America. It has stood on the same site, located at 20 rue de la Baude in Quebec City since 1647.
The official celebrations concluding the 350th anniversary will take place on September 14, 2014.
