Reverend Father Adolfo Nicolás Pachón, SJ
Postulator General of the Company of Jesus
Borgo Santo Spirito, 4-00193 Rome
I have learned the news of the departure of the Venerated Cardinal Roberto Tucci, a member of the Company of Jesus and I wish to express my sympathies and sincere condolences to you, to the entire Institute, to the family members and to all those who have known and esteemed the late Cardinal. I remember with a grateful heart the precious collaboration he gave to the Holy See for many years as Director of Civilta Cattolica, as a peritus at the Second Vatican Council, as Director General of Vatican Radio and especially as organizer of papal visits outside Italy. He leaves the memory of a dynamic and productive life spent in coherent faithfulness and generosity to his vocation as a Religious, attentive to the necessities of others and a faithful shepherd of the gospel and of the Church, following the example of Saint Ignatius. I raise fervent prayers on his behalf, asking that the Lord might welcome him into His eternal glory and peace, and I send you and all our Jesuit confreres the comfort of an Apostolic Blessing, as a sign of my close participation in your communal sadness.
