Cuba to the USA

At the Antonio Maceo international airport in Santiago, at 12:00 noon, there was a departure ceremony held to mark the departure of His Holiness from Cuba.    The Pope was welcomed by the President, Raúl Castro, in the presence of other civil authorities, Cuban bishops and a group of the faithful.

The Holy Father spent some time in discussion with the President before the national hymns were played and the respective delegations greeted one another.

As he left Cuba and as he passed over the Bahamas, the Holy Father sent greetings respectively to the Cuban President and to the Governor of the Bahamas.
