This morning, the Holy Father has appointed His Excellency, Mark Hagemoen, who has most recently been serving as Bishop of MacKenzie-Fort Smith (NWT) as the new Bishop of Saskatoon (SK).
Meet the new Bishop of Saskatoon
His Excellency, Mark Hagemoen was born on 4 September 1961 in Vancouver, BC.
He completed primary studies at Holy Trinity School and secondary studies at Vancouver College, a school which is run by the Christian Brothers of Ireland.
He was grated a Bachelor's degree from the University of British Colombia (1983) and entered Saint Peter's Seminary in London (Ontario) where he completed his formation for priesthood in 1990. He earned a Diploma in Youth Ministry Studies at the University of Seattle, Washington, USA (1996) and a Diploma in Advanced Study in Ministry at the University of Chicago, Illinois, USA (1997) as well as a Doctorate which was grated by Trinity Western University in Langley, BC (2007).
He was ordained a priest on 12 May 1990 for the Archdiocese of Vancouver.
Following his priestly ordination, he was entrusted with the following responsibilities: Parochial Vicar at Saint Stephen parish in Vancouver (1990-1992), Saint Mary parish in Chilliwack (1992-1994); Director of the Archdiocesan Office of Youth Ministry (1994-1999); Pastor of Saint Nicholas parish in Langley (1999-2004) and Saint John the Apostle parish in Vancouver (2004-2011); Vicar General (2004-2009); Episcopal Vicar for Archdiocesan Pastoral Services (2007-2011); President of Corpus Christi College and Principal of Saint Mark's College in Vancouver (2011-2013) and a Member of the College of Consultors (2004-2013) and of the Council for the Centre for Ministry Development (2004-2013).
In 2006, he was named Prelate of Honour of His Holiness.
Appointed Bishop of MacKenzie-Fort Smith on 13 October 2013, he received Episcopal consecration on 15 December of that year.
