Press Conference from Rome to Bogotá

Aboard the flight which took him from Rome to Bogotá (Colombia) for his 20th Apostolic Voyage, Pope Francis held his usual meeting with representatives of the media who accompanied him on board the flight.

Introduced by words of presentation offered by the Director of the Holy See Press Centre, Mister Greg Burke, the Holy Father offered a few words to the journalists.

Press Conference with the Holy Father, Pope Francis
aboard the flight from Rome to Bogotà

Greg Burke
Holy Father, welcome.  Someone once asked me if You hold press conferences while travelling to and returning from these trips. I said: Not yet.  I don't think that you want to change that today ...

Holy Father
No, no ...

Greg Burke
No, ok.  Well then maybe a few words of greeting, ok?

Holy Father
Good morning and thank you for your company, for the work that you are doing to accompany me on this voyage, which is a bit special because it is also a trip to help Colombia to progress on her journey toward peace.  And I ask you to pray for this intention during this trip.  Thank you for all that you are doing.

I also want to say that during this flight we will be passing over Venezuela, so please offer a prayer for Venezuela, that they may continue their dialogue and that the country may find stability through dialogue with everyone.  Thank you for your work!
