Condolences to Pamplona

A telegram of condolence has been sent, in the name of the Holy Father, Pope Francis, by His Eminence, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, the Secretary of State, to the Archbishop of Pamplona y Tudela (Spain) on the occasion of the death of His Eminence, Cardinal Fernando Sebastián Aguilar, CMF, Archbishop emeritus of that same Archdiocese.

Archbishop of Pamplona y Tudela (Spain)

Pope Francis, having received the sad news of the dearth of Cardinal Fernando Sebastián Aguilar, Archbishop emeritus of Pamplona y Tudela, asks Your Excellency to kindly convey to his family members, his fellow Claretian Missionaries and the priests and the faithful of that Archdiocese, his condolences and his paternal closeness to all of them.  Remembering with gratitude the abundant fruit of his service to the Church in Spain, as part of the Episcopal Conference and in the respective dioceses of León, Granada, Pamplona y Tudela and Málaga y Logroño, as well as his fruitful labour as a Professor and as Rector of the Pontifical University of Salamanca, the Holy Father is offering prayers for the eternal rest of this deceased prelate, and willingly imparts his Apostolic blessing as a sign of faith and hope in the risen Christ.
