In preparation for the Special Assembly of the Synod of Bishops on the theme: Amazonia: new journeys for the Church and for integral ecology which is planned to take place in October of this year, the Secretary General of the Synod is organizing a Study Seminar.
The theme of this encounter, which will take place from 25 to 27 February 2019 at the MS. Bambina Institute, is: Toward a Special Synod for the Amazon: regional and universal dimensions.
On the first day, they will examine a few ecclesial and pastoral aspects in the light of the Apostolic Exhortation Evangelii Gaudium. On the second day, they will entertain questions connected to the promotion of integral ecology as outlined in the encyclical Laudato si'. On the final day, there will be a synthesis of the prospectives that have emerged and a communication will be published regarding the journey of preparation of the Synod.
Present at the Seminary will be the Presidents of the Episcopal Conferences from the Amazon area, as well as some other prelates and experts from the Amazon and from other geographic areas. In that way, it will be possible, among other things, to bear light on the relationships between the possible ecclesial situations and realities in the amazon as well as other similar territorial contexts.
In addition, we inform you of the online presence dedicated to the Special Assembly of the Pan-Amazonian Region.
