Telegram of Condolence

To His Excellency, the Most Reverend
Michael Gerber
Bishop of Fulda

Having learned about the terrible act of violence in Hanau, which has caused the death of innocent people, the Holy Father, Pope Francis was deeply distressed.  His Holiness shares in the mourning of the family members, assuring them of his closeness to their suffering.  In prayer, Pope Francis confides the dead to the mercy of God and is imploring Christ, the Lord of life, that the mourners may find consolation and trust, and that they will be accompanied by God's blessing and peace.

Cardinal Pietro Parolin
Secretary of State
