Food for body and soul

With the famous fusion dinner still a vivid memory in the minds of participants, the next request for a repeat performance was received last week.  Actually, the hosts of this second go around have been speaking about it for a few months now, so it didn't really come as a surprise.

As it turns out, this one will coincide well with the celebrations of the Chinese New Year, which begin on Thursday of this week and will continue for two weeks or so.  What a wonderful way to usher in the Year of the Rabbit.  Following the custom of the ancients, we will prepare and serve a meal for family and friends.  These meals are often multi-coursed, and can get quite elaborate, but even if the family who plays host is unable to afford much, there will always be a cake or a crust of bread, and a cup of tea with which to welcome the visitors who come to the door, especially at this time of year.

In the winter months, when the temperature can be forbiddingly freezing, this is one way to turn our attention to celebration, and to warm the soul as well as the tummy with delights of different sorts.
