A delegate for the funeral

Today, the Vatican Press Office announced that His Holiness, Pope Francis has appointed Cardinal Peter Turkson, the President of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace as his special delegate for the official ceremony which will commemorate the memory of the late Nelson Mandela, former President of the Republic of South Africa.

The official memorial ceremony will take place on Tuesday of this week in Johannesburg.  Cardinal Turkson left Rome tonight for the 15-hour flight from Rome to Johannesburg.
