At 10:00am (4:00am EDT) local time this morning, in the Clementine Hall at the Vatican Apostolic Palace, during the celebration of the liturgical Hour of Terce (mid-Morning Prayer), the Holy Father, Pope Francis held a Public Consistory for the Canonization of the following Blesseds:
- John Henry Newman, Cardinal of the Holy Roman Church, Founder of the Oratory of Saint Philip Neri in England;
- Giuseppina Vannini (born Judith Adelaide Agatha), foundress of the Daughters of Saint Camillus;
- Maria Teresa Chiramel Mankidiyan, Founder of the Congregation of Sisters of the Holy Family;
- Dulce Lopes Pontes (born Maria Rita), a member of the Congregation of the Missionary Sisters of the Immaculate Conception of the Mother of God; and
- Margarita Bays, Virgin, a Third Order member of the Order of Saint Francis of Assisi.
During this morning's Consistory, the Pope decreed that these Blesseds will be officially inscribed in the Record of Saints on Sunday, 13 October 2019.
