Child Dignity in a Digital World

This week in Rome, an International Conference entitled Child Dignity in the Digital World is taking place at the Centre for Child Protection which is located at the Gregorian University.  The conference is being sponsored by the Centre in partnership with the WePROTECT Global Alliance.  It is the first of its kind, and will bring together 140 internationally recognized representatives from academia, business, politics, civil society and religion.

Children make up over a quarter of the 3.2 billion internet users worldwide. This generation of over 800 million young users is vulnerable to new forms of harm and abuse, including trolling, cyberbullying, sexual extortion, sexting and grooming for sexual exploitation. The congress provides an excellent opportunity to exchange knowledge and good practice on risks and prevention as children navigate this new digital world.

This gathering offers a platform for sharing and discussion between all the major entities involved in this field, including top experts from the world of science, international organizations and N.G.O.s, as well as the world of business, law enforcement and religion.
