At 12:05pm local time today (6:05am EDT), the Holy Father, Pope Francis arrived at the airport in Maputo where there was a ceremony marking his departure from Mozambique. The departure ceremony took place in a sheltered area of the Presidential pavilion as a result of the bad weather.
Upon his arrival, the Pope was welcomed by the President of the Republic, Mister Filipe Jacinto Nyusi and his wife at the entrance to the Presidential Salon. After having greeted the Bishops of Mozambique and having introduced the members of the respective delegations, the Pope bid farewell to the President of the Republic and his wife and boarded a LAM B737-752 for the flight to Madagascar.
The aircraft carrying the Holy Father left the airport in Maputo at 12:45pm local time (6:45am EDT) and landed at the airport in Antananarivo at 4:00pm local time (9:00am EDT).
Immediately after departing from Maputo, the Holy Father, Pope Francis sent the following telegram to the President of the Republic of Mozambique, Mister Filipe Jacinto Nyusi.

Upon his arrival at the airport in Antananarivo, the Holy Father, Pope Francis was welcomed by the President of the Republic of Madagascar, His Excellency, Mister Andry Rajoelina and his wife. Then, two children dressed in traditional attire presented the Pope with a floral bouquet. There were about 300 people in attendance.
Following the playing of national anthems and the presentation of military honours, the Pope inspected the Guard of Honour and the members of the respective delegations met one another.
Then, the President of the Republic accompanied the Holy Father aboard the popemobile for the transfer to the Apostolic Nunciature in Antananarivo.
Upon his arrival at the Nunciature, the Holy Father was welcomed, at the entrance to the Residence, by the staff of the Pontifical Representation and a choir composed of 50 Malgasci children sang a song. Immediately afterwards, at the conclusion of the song, the Holy Father greeted some of those who were present.
