This morning at the Vatican, the Holy Father, Pope Francis received in audience His Excellency, Mister Aleksandar Vučić, President of the Republic of Serbia, who then met with His Eminence, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Secretary of State and with His Excellency, Paul Richard Gallagher, Secretary for Relations with State.
During the cordial and open discussions satisfaction was expressed for the good relations existing between the Holy See and Serbia, as well as appreciation for the contribution that the Catholic community offers toward the good of the entire nation, especially in the social field.
Subsequently, the situation in the country and the steps taken towards European integration were discussed. Furthermore, topics of common interest were addressed in the regional context, focusing in particular on the importance of promoting fruitful collaboration between peoples at the service of peace and the positive role that religions can play in the reconciliation process.
