Condolences to Digne

Yesterday, the Cardinal Secretary of State, Pietro Parolin sent a telegram of condolence on behalf of the Holy Father to the Bishop of Digne (France), expressing condolences for the 150 victims of the airline tragedy which occurred yesterday morning in the south of France, when an Airbus A320 travelling from Barcellona (Spain) to Düsseldorf (Germany) crashed in the Alps.

Having learned of the tragic airline accident which occurred in the region of Digne, involving many victims, including many children, His Holiness, Pope Francis is united in grief with the families and expresses his sympathy in the midst of their suffering.  He is praying for the eternal repose of those who have died, confiding them to the mercy of God, that He may welcome them in his place of peace and light.  He expresses his profound sympathy to all those who are touched by this tragedy, as well as the rescuers who are working in such difficult conditions.  The Holy Father is asking the Lord to provide strength and consolation to all, and as a pledge of comfort, he imparts to them all the abundance of divine blessings.
