Representatives at the Synod

This morning, the Vatican Press Centre published the list of all the Bishops who will be present at the XIV General Ordinary Assembly of the Synod of Bishops.

The Bishops from Canada who will be present include:

• His Excellency, Paul-André Durocher, Archbishop of Gatineau (Quebec) and President of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops;
• His Excellency, Noël Simard, Bishop of Valleyfield (Quebec);
• His Eminence, Thomas Christopher Cardinal Collins, Archbishop of Toronto (Ontario); and
• His Excellency, Richard Smith, Archbishop of Edmonton (Alberta).

In addition to the above-named representatives, two substitutes have also been named:

• His Excellency, Lionel Gendron, PSS, Bishop of Saint-Jean Longeuil (Quebec); and
• His Excellency, Michael Miller, Archbishop of Vancouver (British Columbia).

The XIV General Ordinary Assembly of the Synod of Bishops, focusing on the theme: The vocation and mission of the family in the Church and in the contemporary world, will take place at the Vatican in October 2015.
