Message to youth in Madagascar

The Holy Father, Pope Francis has sent a video message to young people participating in WYD Mada 9 which is taking place in Mahajanga (Madagascar) from 8 to 14 October 2018.  The theme for this encounter is Fear not Mary, you have found favour with God.

Video message sent by the Holy Father, Pope Francis
to youth in Madagascar

Dear young people,

I am happy to speak live with you.  You are in my heart and in the hearts of the Bishops at the Synod because our attention is focused on you, young people.  You have come from all corners of your beautiful island for this gathering focused on the theme: Fear not Mary, for you have found favour with God.

These words spoken by the angel to Mary are addressed to each of you today.  God is speaking to you.  Just as the Lord looked on Mary and gave her the gift of grace, he is looking upon you with love, respect and tenderness.  He knows your fears, your weaknesses.  With Him, everything is possible.  Mary placed everything in his hands: do what she did, welcome the gift of God by opening your hearts wide.  The grace of God is a treasure that we can easily forget about, because the Lord never imposes his will!  He constantly says to us: If you wish, if you wish ...  Take the time to listen to his invitation and to respond with all your heart and with all your generosity!  What happiness it is to respond to the call of Jesus!  Many priests, many consecrated people can witness to this truth: Jesus gives meaning to our lives.

Don't remain lonely!  The Church is a large family in which you will always find support and comfort; in your parishes and in your groups, through prayer, the sacraments, friendship, the presence of priests and other baptized people.

Go, proclaim to everyone the truth that Jesus loves us and that with Him, all fear disappears!  Fulfill your dreams and work together to build your future and the future of your country by constantly seeking the good of others.  I send you out as messengers of peace and hope to your villages, to your cities, to the places where you live and work.  May God bless you and may He bless your families!  I am praying for you and I ask you also to pray for me and for all your bishops.
