Shocked by the sad news of terrible fires on the island of Madeira, the Holy Father asks Your Excellency to transmit to the families of the victims his condolences and his sharing in the pain being experienced by all the mourners, as well as his solidarity and spiritual closeness to those who have lost their homes. Especially on the occasion of the festival of Our Lady of the Mount, His Holiness confides the Diocese of Funchal to the Holy Mother of God who, through her Assumption into heaven is closer to her children here on earth and intercedes for them to Jesus as a sign of the life and the bright future that we can look forward to.
