A call for Conscience about euthanasia and assisted suicide in Ontario

The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario has adopted a policy which requires all physicians to make an effective referral for services like euthanasia and assisted suicide even if they conscientiously object to these services.

This has placed many Catholic doctors in a dilemma - they must choose between their conscience and their career.

With the introduction of Bill 84 on medical aid in dying at Queen’s Park in December 2016, we have the opportunity to amend the Bill to include conscience protection for all health care workers. The Christian Medical and Dental Society of Canada has asked all parishes to make parishioners aware of the campaign, so that they will contact their MPPs to ask for this amendment.
