Pope Francis to visit Loreto

The interim Director of the Holy See Press Centre, Alessandro Gisotti, informed journalists this morning that on Monday, 25 March of this year, the Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord, the Holy Father, Pope Francis will visit Loreto.

On that occasion, the Pope intends to offer the Virgin Mary the Post-synodal Exhortation from the Synod of Bishops on the theme: Youth, faith and vocational discernment which was held at the Vatican from 3 to 28 October 2018.

Departure by helicopter from the Vatican heliport

9:00am
Arrival at the John Paul II Youth Centre in Montoroso

The Holy Father will be welcomed by His Excellency, Fabio Dal Cin, Prelate Archbishop of Loreto; Doctor Luca Ceriscioli, President of the Marche region; Doctor Antonio D'Acunto, Prefect of Ancona; and Doctor Paolo Nicoletti, Mayor of Loreto.

The Holy Father will travel by car to the Shrine of Loreto.

9:30am
At the Shrine, the Holy Father will be welcomed by Father Franco Carollo, Rector of the Pontifical Basilica of the Holy House of Loreto; Father Andrea Principini, Vicar General of the Pontifical Delegation for the Shrine of the Holy House of Loreto; Father Vincenzo Mattia, Vicar General for the Prelature of the Holy House of Loreto; and Doctor Claudio Quattrini, Secretary General of the Pontifical Delegation for the Shrine of the Holy House of Loreto.

9:45am
The Holy Father will celebrate the Eucharist at the Holy House.

At the conclusion of the Mass, the Pope will sign the Post-synodal letter to Youth.

After the Eucharistic celebration, inside the sacristy, the Holy Father will greet the members of the Capuchin Brothers who live at the Shrine.

Inside the Shrine, the Pope will greet the sick who will be present and then exit into the Shrine's courtyard in order to greet the faithful.  There, the Holy Father will be greeted by His Excellency, Fabio Dal Cin, Prelate Archbishop of Loreto.

The Holy Father will speak to the crowds and then lead the recitation of the Angelus.

At the heliport at Montorso, the Holy Father will bid farewell to those who had greeted him at his arrival earlier that morning
