Getting ready

This weekend's bulletin is ready.  It's been printed and stuffed.  All that remains is for the people to arrive.  Under normal circumstances, the weekly bulletin might include the odd insert, but this week is an exception.  The treasures available this time round include
  • a copy of the Bishop's annual letter addressed to the people of the diocese for the Season of Lent which begins next Wednesday;
  • a copy of a booklet of reflections entitled I Have Heard the Cries of My People, meant to help each family to focus their prayer and reflection during the Lenten period; and
  • details about the locations of various celebrations, including the distribution of ashes, as they are scheduled to take place on Ash Wednesday.
In addition, this year, we hare prepared a special section of our parish website which currently provides details about Penitential liturgies that are scheduled to take place in the city and a series of other resources meant to help people live Lent as a time of celebration, and educational information meant to help others understand the rules about determining the time at which we should begin the Easter Vigil which takes place on Holy Saturday evening and celebrating funerals, especially during the time of the Easter Triduum (Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Holy Saturday).

There is also information provided on our website about online retreats for adults and for teenagers who may want to use the period of Lent as a time for reflection and deepening their experience of living faith.

In the coming days, we will also post information about the scheduled liturgies that will be celebrated at our parish during the Easter Triduum.  Stay tuned.
