Visiting one of his own

Pope Francis paid a surprise visit to the Pius X clinic on the outskirts of Rome this morning.  He wanted to personally check in on one of the Cardinals, His Eminence, Javier Lozano Barragan, to ascertain his well being.

Cardinal Barragan, native to Mexico, once served as the President of the Pontifical Council for Health Care.  His Eminence is currently recouperating from an operation.

While at the Clinic, the Pope also spent time greeting the Clinic staff and paid tribute to the testimony of faith which the retired Cardinal, who celebrated his 80th birthday on January 26 of this year, has left for the Church.

Small acts of pastoral kindness such as these are examples by means of which the Holy Father is teaching the entire Church that we must not only be willing to proclaim the words of the gospel; we must also be equally willing to act on them, for each of us is another Christ by means of our baptism.
