Ten squares for ten commandments

The Church in Italy is in the process of living a pastoral initiative entitled Ten Squares for Ten Commandments.  The first of these gatherings took place in Rome's Piazza del Popolo in September 2012, bearing the theme I am the Lord your God.  The second took place simultaneously on September 15 of last year in Verona's Piazza dei Signori, with the theme Do not take the Lord's name in vain, and in Naples' Piazza del Piebiscito, focusing on the fourth commandment, Honour your father and mother.

At each of these gatherings, local personalities, artists, writers, scientists and musicians participate, sharing their talents, their gifts and their reflections on the given theme.

The next of these gatherings will take place this coming Saturday, June 8 in the Cathedral Square in Milan, beginning at 8:30pm and will be dedicated to the third commandment: Remember to keep holy the Lord's Day.  The Holy Father, Pope Francis will send a video message which will be broadcast during the gathering in Milan.

Other gatherings are being planned in various locations throughout Italy in the coming months, each focusing on one of the Ten Commandments.
