The Holy See will hold a Marian Day gathering as part of the Year of Faith festivities on October 12-13th. The gathering, which is organized by the Pontifical Council for Promoting the New Evangelization, will reflect on the theme Blessed are you for believing!
The Marian Day also coincides with the anniversary of the
final apparition of the Blessed Virgin to three shepherd children at the Cova da Iria in Portugal. The last
apparition of Our Lady of Fatima was followed by the Miracle of the Sun witnessed by thousands gathered on October 13th,
1917. The sun moved its position and changed into various colors.
The original statue of Our Lady of Fatima, venerated by
millions around the world, will be present for the festivities in Rome. The
Holy Father will receive the statue on the afternoon of Saturday, October 12th
which will be followed by a Marian catechesis.
The statue will then make its way to the Sanctuary of Divine Love, where the Rosary will prayed and broadcast to every Marian
sanctuary around the world. On Sunday, October 13th, the statue will be
returned to Saint Peter’s Basilica where the recitation of the Rosary will take
place, followed by a Mass presided by Pope Francis.
