Back ... with lots of catching up to do

Never fear folk.  Silence in the realm of blogging does not idleness infer.

Following the posting during the Easter Triduum, I was preparing for a much anticipated journey, this time to the Eternal City.  The reason for the travel was the Beatification of the Servant of God, Karol Woytyla, better known in some circles as John Paul II, a name he began using on the day of his election as Pope, October 16, 1978, and which he used until the day he entered the Father's house on April 3, 2005.

Twenty-seven years of service as leader of the Roman Catholic Church makes him number 3 in the line of long-serving popes.  Only one other has sat in the Chair of Peter for longer, and of course, Peter himself occupies the place of honor as longest-serving, simply out of respect.  Call it pride of place.

Now I'm back, with a few moments here and there to get caught up with all the story telling.

Hang on for the ride then, for this journey was part pilgrimage, and a part tour.  Participants were there for the big day, but of course took advantage of the situation to see some of the sights, to visit with friends, to do as the proverbial Romans do, when in Rome.
