Word this morning that there has been a slight delay in the installation of the steel beams in the towers. Apparently, the brackets (which were fabricated to fit in all four corners) have successfully been installed, however, when the workmen tried to install the first steel beam (meant to fit between the brackets, it turned out to be just a shade too long.
Was there an error in measurements? How long will it take to secure the permissions necessary to shave the beam (if that's even the right terminology)?
As of late this morning, work had ground to a halt while one of the engineers was completing the regularly scheduled verifications. I still haven't learned whether the permissions for alterations to the steel have been secured, but I'm sure that it won't be long before they fall into place.
In the meanwhile, I had a sneak peak this afternoon at the newly arrived hatches which will be installed over the openings in the floors at the top of the towers (once all the other steel has been installed, and the interior scaffolding has been dismantled. For the moment, these bright, shiny new additions are still being protected by cardboard and wood. It won't be long though before they're uncovered, hoisted to the top, and installed.

Apparently, the contacts with the Engineers were established just minutes after the challenge was discovered. The necessary permissions for shortening of the beams was granted, but work has still not begun on this task, probably pending the job site visit that's scheduled to take place this coming Monday.
