Yesterday afternoon, the Holy Father, Pope Francis received in private audience His Eminence, Angelo Cardinal Amato, SDB, Prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints.
During their meting, the Holy Father approved the affirmative sentence written by the Ordinary Session of the Cardinals and Bishops who are Members of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints concerning the canonization of Blessed Junipero (born Michele Giuseppe Serra), a Priest of the Order of Friars Minor who was born in Petra (Spain) on November 24, 1713 and who died in Monterrey (United States of America) on August 28, 1784.
This means that the path has now been cleared for Blessed Junipero Serra's canonization. A date and location for that celebration will be published at a later date.
