The Holy Father has named a new Auxiliary Bishop for the Archdiocese of Montreal (Canada) in the person of Monsignor Alain Faubert, who until now has been serving as Pastor of Saint-Germain, and has assigned him as the Titular Bishop of Vico di Pacato.
Monsignor Alain Faubert was born in Montreal on April 4, 1965. He completed secondary studies at the Laval College in Laval and at the Collège Marie-Victorin in Montreal. He entered the Major Seminary in Montreal and pursued studies in Philosophy and Theology at the University, after which he was ordained a priest on June 9, 1995 in the Church of St-Pie X in Laval.
From 1995 until 2000 he fulfilled the ministry of Vicar of the Parishes of Saint-Urbain and Sainte-Dorothé. He was then invited to spend three years in Paris at the Institut Catholique to perfect his studies. Returning in 2003, he was named Vicar at the parish of Saint-Germain and later, in 2011, he was named Pastor of that same community.
He also held some diocesan responsibilities such as that of Assistant to the Diocesan Office of Education (2004-2008), with particular responsibility for the catechumenate; and Associate Moderator of the Curia (2007-2010). In 2010, he was granted a Doctorate from Laval University with the thesis entitled: Tous, un, quelques-uns: Presiding, an expression of inter-dependence between pastors and the Church. From 2011 until 2012, he served as Episcopal Vicar for the Eastern region of the Archdiocese of Montreal and taught Ecclesiology at the Major Seminary in Montreal.
