The Fourth Sunday of Ordinary Time is often referred to as Good Shepherd Sunday because of the figure of Jesus, who is portrayed as the Good Shepherd in the scriptural passages proposed for this Sunday's gatherings of the faithful (cf especially John 10:27-30).
The team at Salt+Light Television has prepared a biblical reflection on the theme of the Good Shepherd which helps us to understand Jesus as one who cares intimately for all his beloved disciples, those who attempt daily to follow in his footsteps.
Today is also the World Day of Prayer for Vocations. Pray today in thanksgiving for all the priests who have helped you to strengthen your faith, to become courageous and joyful witnesses of God's love and mercy. In this Extra-ordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy, the Holy Father's Message for the World Day of Prayer for Vocations may help us all to realize the role of all members of the Church: priests, bishops, religious, deacons, mothers, fathers, grandparents, godparents ... in encouraging our young people to listen carefully for the voice of the Good Shepherd and courageously responding to his call to follow in his footsteps.
