This morning, the Captains Regent of the Most Serene
Republic of San Marino, their Excellencies Antonella Mularoni and Denis Amici,
paid a visit to His Holiness, Pope Francis.
Previous to this encounter, the same Heads of State,
accompanied by the Honorable Pasquale Valentini, Secretary of State for Foreign
and Political Affairs, met with His Eminence, Tarcisio Cardinal Bertone,
Secretary of State of His Holiness, and with His Excellency, Dominique
Mamberti, Secretary for Relations with States.
During the cordial discussions, satisfaction was
expressed relative to the good relations currently being enjoyed between the
Holy See and the Republic of San Marino.
Among other subjects discussed was the grave situation concerning the eastern
Mediterranean area and it was agreed
that only the united efforts of all nations will ensure a peaceful solution to
the ongoing conflict and guarantee ongoing security throughout the region.
The two parties confirmed their willingness to continue
constructive collaboration and bilateral efforts in the context of the
international community.
