The sixth meeting of the Council of Cardinals with the Holy Father began yesterday morning at the Casa Santa Marta in the Vatican. This Council was instituted by Pope Francis shortly after his election in order to assist him with the governance of the universal Church and to study the revision of the Apostolic Constitution Pastor bonus which concerns the Roman Curia.
The work of the Council of nine (which according to the decision of the Holy Father includes the above-mentioned group as well as Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin) will continue until tomorrow (Wednesday, September 17).
Previous meetings of this Council took place on October 1-3 and 3-5, 2013 as well as February 17-19, April 28-30 and July 1-4 of this year.
