Pope visists Vatican crypt

This afternoon in Rome, the Holy Father Francis visited the crypt below Saint Peter's Basilica, where he prayed at the tomb of Saint Peter.  The present Basilica is the fourth building that has been constructed over the site of the tomb of the Fisherman who was asked by Jesus himself to lead the Church.

The Pope was accompanied this afternoon by His Eminence, Angelo Cardinal Comastri, Archpriest of the Vatican Basilica and Prefect of the Fabric of Saint Peter (which means he's the one in charge of the physical property of Saint Peter's Basilica).
