Pope Francis has written to his followers on Twitter, appealing for prayers for victims of a devastating factory explosion in Texas (USA). Posting on his @pontifex hashtag, the Holy Father says: Please join me in praying for the victims of the explosion in Texas and their families.
A deadly explosion ripped through a Texas fertilizer plant near the city of Waco late on Wednesday, injuring more than 100 people, leveling dozens of homes and damaging other buildings including a school and a nursing home.
Five people have been confirmed dead, but that number may rise as rescue efforts continue and search teams comb through the rubble of the demolished plant and surrounding homes.
