To His Excellency, Emmanuel Lefont

Having learned of the tragic accident which occurred on the road from Saint Laurent du Maroni involving a bus which was transporting some youth destined to participate in the World Youth Day festivities in Rio de Janeiro, His Holiness, Pope Francis shares whole heartedly in the pain of the families who mourn the death of one of their children, as well as the suffering of the group organizers.  The Holy Father assures them of his prayer and expresses his deepest sympathy to those who have been wounded, to the aid workers and to all those who are involved in this tragedy.  As a pledge of comfort, the Pontiff sends an Apostolic Blessing to all those affected by this tragedy.
