Condolences to Mali

Yesterday, a message of condolence was sent by the Cardinal Secretary of State on behalf of the Holy Father to the Archbishop of the capital city of Mali for the victims of the attacks that took place in Bamako.

Message of the Holy Father, Pope Francis
for victims of the attack in Mali

His Excellency, Jean Zerbo
Archbishop of Bamako

Having learned of the tragic attack that took place in Bamako, His Holiness, Pope Francis is united in prayer with the sufferings of the families who are mourning and with the sadness of all Malians.  He confides all the victims to the mercy of God, praying that He may welcome them into his light.  His Holiness expresses his profound sympathy to those persons who have been wounded and to their families, asking the Lord to bring them comfort and consolation in their moments of trial.

Dismayed by this blind violence, which he fervently condemns, the Holy Father implores from God the conversion of hearts and the give of peace, and he invokes the abundance of divine blessings upon all those who have been affected by this drama.

Cardinal Pietro Parolin
Secretary of State of His Holiness
