At 12:55pm today, at the Vatican City State's Tribunal, the seventh session of the criminal trials involving Giuseppe Profiti and Massimo Spina, accused of embezzling funds from the Bambino Gesù Foundation was conducted.
Present at today's hearings were Professor Paolo Papanti-Pelletier, Venerando Marano and Carlo Bonzano, the judges; and Professor Roberto Zannotti, the Associate Promotor of Justice (who is working with Professor Gian Piero Milano). At the beginning of today's audience, Giuseppe Profiti was absent, but he arrived later in the afternoon; in the meanwhile, he was represented by his lawyer, Antonello Blasi. The other accused, Massimo Spina, was absent today for medical reasons, but he was represented by his lawyer, Alfredo Ottaviani.
Doctor Tommaso Di Ruzza, Director of the Financial Information Authority was present as a witness.
This afternoon's session, which ended at approximately 2:05pm was adjourned until Monday, 9 October at 11:00am. At that time, it is expected that the testimony of Doctor Mariella Enoc, President of the Bambino Gesù Paediatric Hospital will be heard.
