The most recent meeting of the Council of Cardinals took place in presence of His Holiness, Pope Francis from Monday, April 28 to Wednesday, April 30 inclusive. The Council of Cardinals was instituted by Pope Francis in order to assist him with the pastoral governance of the Universal Church and in order to study proposed revisions to the Pastoral Constitution Pastor bonus which concerns the Roman Curia.
At this point, the Council has completed its review of the Pontifical Councils. On Wednesday afternoon the Council of Cardinals met with Cardinal Lorenzo Baldisseri, who reported on the preparation of the upcoming Synod on the Family.
Part of the time was dedicated to the planning of the work to be completed between this meeting and the next one, scheduled for the first days of July.
Meanwhile, at 9 a.m. on Monday, April 28, at the premises of the Institute for the Works of Religion, the Supervisory Commission of Cardinals met in order to draft guidelines for their action. Furthermore, it was decided that the Supervisory Commission will initially meet three times per year, notwithstanding special circumstances necessitating other meetings.
