Angelus after the Canonizations

At the conclusion of the Mass celebrated in Saint Peter's Square for the Canonization of six Blesseds today, before the recitation of the Angelus , the Holy Father, Pope Francis shared the following words with those who were present.

Greetings of the Holy Father, Pope Francis
prior to the recitation of the Angelus

Dear brothers and sisters,

At the conclusion of this celebration, I wish to greet all of you who have come to render homage to the new Saints, especially the official delegation from Italy and from India.

The example of the four Italian saints, born in the Provinces of Vicenza, Napoli, Cosenza and Rimini, help the beloved Italian people to revive the spirit of collaboration and concord for the common good and to look with hope toward the future, in unity, trusting in the nearness of God who never abandons us, even in difficult moments.

Through the intercession of the two Indian saints, from Kerala, the great land of faith and of priestly and religious vocations, may the Lord grant a new missionary impulse to the Church which is in India - which is so good! - so that, inspired by their example of concord and reconciliation, Christians in India may continue on the path of solidarity and fraternal coexistence.

I affectionately greet the Cardinals, the Bishops, the priests, and also the families, the parish groups, the associations and the schools who are present.  With filial love, we now turn to the Virgin Mary, mother of the Church, queen of the Saints and model for all Christians.

The angel of the Lord declared unto Mary ...

I wish you a good Sunday, in peace, with the joy of these new Saints ... and I ask you, please, to pray for me.  Enjoy your lunch and good bye!
