His Excellency, José Manuel Lorca Planes
Bishop of Cartagena

Pope Francis, deeply pained upon learning the news of the serious traffic accident which occurred in Cieza, which involved many victims, among which was the young parish priest of Bullas, Reverend, Miguel Conesa Andújar, requests your kind cooperation to transmit the assurance of his spiritual closeness to all those whose lives have been affected by such an unfortunate tragedy.  In his prayers, His Holiness offers fervent supplication to God that He may grant eternal rest to those who have died and total healing to those who have been wounded, as well as comfort to all those who mourn the loss of their loved ones.

In this moment of sorrow and deep dismay, the Holy Father calls upon the maternal intercession of Blessed Mary, that she may help the children of that precious land to find encouragement in their faith and strength in the Spirit to overcome these painful circumstances, and he offers them the love and comfort of his Apostolic Blessing, willingly imparted as a sign of comfort and hope in the risen Christ.

Cardinal Pietro Parolin
Secretary of State
