Condolences to Spain

The Holy Father has sent a message of condolence - signed by the Cardinal Secretary of State, Pietro Parolin - for the young victims of a serious traffic accident that took place yesterday in Freginals, not far from Tarragona (Spain).

Pope Francis, deeply saddened to hear the news of the tragic traffic accident that took place in the town of Freginals, and which has resulted in the death of a group of young students, offers prayers for the eternal repose of those who have died, and at the same time, he expresses his wishes for speedy recovery for those who have been wounded.

At the same time, I have been asked to transmit to Your Excellency the heartfelt condolences of His Holiness, along with the expressions of his closeness and comfort for the families who are grieving this irreparable loss as he pleads with the Lord that He will pour out on the the gifts of spiritual serenity and Christian hope, in pledge of which he extends to them, with all his heart, the comfort of his Apostolic Blessing.
