Angola at the Vatican

Today, the Holy Father, Pope Francis received in audience the President of the Republic of Angola, His Excellency, Mister João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço. Monsignor Mirosław Stanisław Wachowski, Under-secretary for Relations with States, subsequently met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mister Manuel Domingos Augusto.

During the cordial discussions, in which the good relations between the Holy See and Angola and the valued contribution of the Catholic Church in numerous sectors of society were highlighted. Special attention was paid to some aspects of the Bilateral Agreement signed in the Vatican last 13 September. The discussion then turned to the situation within the country, with particular attention to the efforts intended to promote the development and maintenance of social peace.
