Mauritius back to Madagascar

At 6:45pm this evening (10:45am EDT), there was a departure ceremony conducted at the airport in Port Louis, Mauritius.

Upon his arrival at the airport, the Holy Father, Pope Francis was welcomed by the Prime Minister, Pravind Kumar Jugnauth.  After having inspected the Honour Guard, the Pope climbed aboard an Air Mauritius A330 for the return flight to Madagascar.

The aircraft carrying the Holy Father, which left the airport in Port Louis at 7:15pm local time (11:15am EDT), landed at the airport in Antananarivo at 8:10pm local time (12:10pm EDT).

The Pope then returned by car to the Apostolic Nunciature in Antananarivo.

Immediately upon leaving Port Louis, the Holy Father, Pope Francis sent the following telegram to the interim President of the Republic of Mauritius, Barlen Vyapoory.

Flying above the island of La Réunion, a French territory in the Indian Ocean, the Holy Father sent the following telegram to the President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron.

As my Apostolic Journey takes me over Réunion, I send cordial greetings to Your Excellency and your fellow citizens and I willingly invoke the divine blessings of peace and joy upon Réunion.
