Going out

In his Apostolic Exhortation entitled Evangelii gaudium (The Joy of the Gospel), published in November 2013, the Holy Father, Pope Francis invites Christians everywhere ... to a renewed personal encounter with Jesus Christ, or at least an openness to letting him encounter them (EG, 3).

In an effort to open the doors to such an encounter, strengthening the relationship between Catholic schools in Ontario, the Church (particularly our local parishes) and the home settings of each student must always be a priority in the lives of teachers, pastors and parents.

One of the great privileges of working within the parish that I am currently assigned to brings is the opportunity to work with some amazingly committed teachers.  Just this week, visits to the local schools began, and as of yesterday, the very first of a brand new effort at communication was launched ... all in an effort to keep everyone connected and focused on promoting the personal encounter of all our staff and students with Jesus Christ.

Every week (I hope), one of these communications will be sent to the principals and staff at the schools which are part of the parish.  Copies of this bulletin will also be catalogued on our recently-launched parish website.

Every effort toward building bridges builds on others and prepares the way for other connections to be forged ... and every effort of this kind opens another door to the possibility of joyfully sharing the Gospel with others.
