Invited to the Synod discussions

A year ago, in October 2013, His Holiness, Pope Francis called for an Extraordinary Assembly of the Synod of Bishops to discuss pastoral challenges facing the family in the context of evangelization.  Before the end of 2013, a consultation document was circulated worldwide, inviting the various Bishops' Conferences to consult with as many people as possible in order to determine the challenges facing Catholic families in the context of the current day.  This information was gathered and has now been collated into a working document which will form the basis of the discussions that will take place next month at the Vatican.

The Extraordinary Assembly on the Family will take place from October 5-19, 2014.  Today, the Vatican Press Centre released the list of participants who have been invited to attend these meetings, to take place in the discussions on behalf of their fellow Catholics.  The list involves participants from all corners of the world.
