This morning, the Vatican Press Office published the text of a telegram of condolence for the victims of the attack which took place yesterday in Paris at the offices of the weekly news magazine Charlie Hebdo. The telegram was sent by the Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin to the Archbishop of Paris, His Eminence, André Cardinal Vingt-Trois on behalf of the Holy Father.
Learning of the terrible attack which took place in Paris, at the offices of Charlie Hebdo, which claimed many victims, His Holiness, Pope Francis is united in prayer with the families and with all French people who are painfully saddened. He confides the victims to God, who is most merciful, praying that they be welcomed into his light. He expresses his profound sympathy to those who have been wounded and also to their families, asking the Lord to bring them comfort and consolation in their time of trial. The Holy Father condemns once again the violence which brings so much suffering, and asking the Lord to bestow the gift of his peace, he invokes over the families who are facing this trial as well as over all people of France the benefit of divine blessings.
