At 5:00pm this evening, in the San Calixto Palace, an extra-territorial area belonging to the Holy See, the first offices of Scholas Occurrentes were officially opened in the presence of the Holy Father.
The Scholas Occurrentes Foundation, an international organization created by Pope Francis on 13 August 2013, which is present in 190 countries, is currently the largest movement for students worldwide. Its fundamental objective is the promotion of a culture of peace and encounter and it includes efforts being expended in schools and various education networks which are part of various religious confessions and involving many lay persons, both public and private.
In a live video feed, the Holy Father, Pope Francis addressed the students of Scholas who can be found in Italy, Columbia, Haiti, Paraguay, Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Spain and the United Arab Emirates.
