Pope meets with Muslim leaders from Great Britain

At 9:00am today in the Atrium of the Paul VI Hall, His Holiness, Pope Francis received in audience a delegation of Muslim leaders from Great Britain.  Present at this morning's audience were: Moulana Ali Raza Rizvi, President of the Malgis and ulama for Europe; Moulana Muhammad Shahid Raza, Chairman of the British Muslim Forum, Great Britain; Shaykh Ibrahim Mogra, Co-chair of the Christian Muslim Forum; and Moulana Sayed Ali Abbas Razawi, Director General of the Scottish Ahlul Bayt Society.

Greetings of His Holiness, Pope Francis
for the encounter with Muslim leaders

With joy, I welcome you.  I like to think that the most important work that we need to do today between us, for the sake of humanity, is the work of the ear: listening to one another.  Listening to one another, without worrying about giving a response.  Welcoming the word of a brother, a sister, and then thinking about sharing my own word.  The ability to listen, this is very important.  It is interesting: when a person has this ability to listen, he can speak in quiet tones, calmly ... However, when this ability is absent, he speaks loudly and even cries out.  Among brothers, we all should speak, listen to one another and speak slowly, calmly, seek the path together.  And when we listen to one another and speak together, already we are on the road.

Thank you for the journey that you have made and I ask the Almighty and merciful God to bless you.  And I ask you to pray for me.

Thank you very much.
